Schalke vs RB Leipzig predicted XI: Everyone loves an upset
By Josh Sippie
Midfield
Have I mentioned full strength yet? Yeah, it really applies here. We have a ton of options for our midfield, but that doesn’t mean that Wagner needs to explore all these options. Because we know what our best midfield combination is.

- Schalke 04: Arkadiusz Milik would take everything, but he’s worth it
- Schalke 04: Ozan Kabak makes Jean-Claire Todibo pass quietly
- Schalke 04: Omar Mascarell the only boost between now and then
- Schalke 04: David Wagner just has to make it to the end of the season
- Schalke 04: At least we still have Weston McKennie
Omar Mascarell will sit in the anchor seat, floating between the defense and the midfield in his usual fashion. If nothing else, it will always be something we can find a lot of confidence in, because he is top class through and through.
On either side of him, I would expect our midfield to be back to the usual—Weston McKennie and Suat Serdar. McKennie has been one of our best players since returning from his injury and I can’t wait to see how this all shapes up with the return of Suat Serdar as well.
Serdar has been missed. He’s still our top scorer, so it’s not exactly surprising that we’ve had trouble scoring, but it seems flimsy investing all of our hopes in Serdar. Still, it’s certainly going to help, and I can’t wait to see how it all fits together again.
Lastly, moving on to the attack.
