Schalke vs RB Leipzig predicted XI: Everyone loves an upset
By Josh Sippie
Defense
Did I say full strength enough yet? Because if not, let’s say it again—this defense is back at full strength. The injury issues are overcome, there are no illnesses, there’s nothing to hold us back from yet another clean sheet, right?
More from Release The Knappen
- Schalke 04: Arkadiusz Milik would take everything, but he’s worth it
- Schalke 04: Ozan Kabak makes Jean-Claire Todibo pass quietly
- Schalke 04: Omar Mascarell the only boost between now and then
- Schalke 04: David Wagner just has to make it to the end of the season
- Schalke 04: At least we still have Weston McKennie
Starting at fullback, we will have Jonjoe Kenny and Bastian Oczipka. Kenny worked his way back into the starting XI last time out, and while he was a bit rusty we know what he is capable of, and he will have his hands full against this supercharged Leipzig attack. So let’s hope that rust is all shaken off by tomorrow.
Opposite him, the ever-reliable Bastian Oczipka will be holding down his role. I say ever-reliable, but even he looked shaken against Bayern Munich, and we need to see him stand up against superior opposition here.
In the middle, despite having a great match in his starting debut, Jean-Clair Todibo will return to the bench. Ozan Kabak will take his place. He’s risen to become our best defender in the short time he’s had in the starting XI and it’s been glorious.
Lastly, Matija Nastasic will round off the defense.
Next up, the midfield.
