Defense
Despite the result against Augsburg, the back four that Wagner employed did well for about 85 of the 90 minutes. There were just a few massive individual mistakes—Salif Sane and Bastian Oczipka, for instance—that either led directly to goals or led directly the chances.
But without those individual mistakes, Augsburg had nothing to do in the attack. They struggled to get through the backline and only succeeded in maximizing the Royal Blue mistakes. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but I wouldn’t expect any changes going into the match.
Jonjoe Kenny and Bastian Oczipka will fill out the fullback positions and Salif Sane and Matija Nastasic will hold down the center.
The big question is whether or not Ozan Kabak will be healthy. He was on the bench for the Augsburg match but there are still questions about his back injury and if he’s ready to jump right back into the action. Honestly, Sane and Nastasic will be up to the task. No reason to rush it.
The questions begin as we move int the midfield.
