Schalke 04 vs FC Augsburg player ratings: Bring our your dead

Played the Omar Mascarell role, dropping back into the backline on defense. Always reliable in terms of wrecking opposing players, but his passing was again lacking and nearly proved detrimental in the 10th minute and then again following a poor combination play with Caligiuri around the hour mark and again just a few minutes later. He’s getting better at handling the ball to complement his immense defensive work, but more improvement is still necessary.. CM. FC Schalke 04. WESTON MCKENNIE. 5.7

Again had trouble getting involved with the attack, especially after Löwen put Augsburg ahead. There were glimpses of his slaloming runs through the midfield, but without anything happening around him, they often ran into dead ends. Though he did have Schalke’s first real chance in the 25th minute, even if he skied the effort. Defensively, he was the best we had at winning back the ball.
