Schalke 04: 20 most expensive transfers in Schalke 04 history

7. José Manuel Jurado—$12.10m
Jose Manuel Jurado is another one of those head-scratching, whatever happened to him kind of signings. He arrived to great aplomb, joining in the same summer that also saw Klaas-Jan Huntelaar join the club, marking nearly $30m that the club invested in giving their attack a necessary jolt.
Jurado wasted no time, pairing well with Huntelaar to account for nine goals and five assists in all competitions in his very first year at the club. He was particularly deadly in the Champions League, as well as helping to drive the club to the DFB-Pokal Cup and Supercup.
Jurado’s second year at the club was not so fortunate, as he saw his playing time slipping away in favor of the likes of Lewis Holtby and after a loan to Spartak the following year, Jurado carried on the trend that’s developing in all these top signings—leaving the club for far less than he was purchased for.
He joined Spartak permanently for just $3.3m.
