11. Jefferson Farfan—$11m
The main man Jeff! Another splendid addition to the Klaas-Jan Huntelaar show that saw Schalke actually capable of scoring regular goals. Jefferson Farfan was just another such case, playing primarily as a winger and taking full advantage of the Royal Blues collective attacking might.
Farfan spent seven beautiful years in Gelsenkirchen, accumulating 53 goals in 228 career appearances, including 48 Bundesliga assists in that time. Aside from his last year at the club, he never failed to appear less than 25 times in a season and he has to be counted as one of the best wingers to wear the Royal Blue.
He was, of course, a key component of the DFB-Pokal Cup and Supercup titles.
Farfan will always be fondly remembered among the Die Knappen faithful and despite the trend of being sold for way under market value, his contributions to the club make this one excusable, as he joined Al-Jazira for just $7.7m after seven years at Schalke.
