Schalke 04 vs Dortmund: 5 things learned in slaughterhouse Revierderby
By Josh Sippie
1. My kingdom for a striker
What does it take to get a striker in there who knows what he’s doing? I have been a fan of Benito Raman since day one and I still love what he brings to the club, but as a sole striker, he is not going to succeed.
Guido Burgstaller proved months ago that he is not the striker that we need and Michael Gregoritsch has had one fantastic match and a slew of matches so awful that not even David Wagner can justify playing him anymore.
Ahmed Kutucu is the only untapped resource, and until he gets a prolonged stint in the club, we will never know what he can do for this team. But guess what? He literally can’t do any worse than what his competitors are doing.
Schalke has to get a striker in here—a hearty, competent striker. Because they’ve got a whole lot of options and far too many goals to justify it. Maybe that answer is Kutucu, we can’t tell for sure, but it might be that we just don’t have that guy yet.
