Schalke 04 may have gotten ransacked at the black and yellow cave in the Revierderby, but hope is not lost. Here are five reasons to stay positive.

We’re still mere hours from the devastation at Dortmund and the loss definitely still fees fresh and, for lack of a better word, icky. Schalke was thoroughly emasculated by their hated rivals and many fans don’t know what to think. It felt like a continuation of where things left off before the pause, with not just defeats, but embarrassments.

And not just to top teams either—3-0 to FC Koln is unacceptable, and it’s something that should have been repaired after such a long lay off.

Hope is not all lost though. This club has fallen to eighth in the table when they were pushing for the top mere months ago, but that doesn’t mean that it’s time to start abandoning all positive vibes. There’s still a lot of reason to be optimistic, not just about this season, but about what’s to come.

Schalke 04 fans, stay positive—here are 5 reasons why

So let’s talk smiles and fluffy feelings. There’s still so much to love about Die Knappen. Now let’s get down to it with these five reasons to stay positive.

5. David Wagner

It’s completely understandable that fans would be frustrated with David Wagner for all of the struggles, and how coming out of the pause, nothing looked to have changed. Wagner is a guy who carries a tremendous reputation for his intelligence and inspirational capacity and this club has been devoid of both of those key traits for months now.

But he’s still David Wagner. He’s still the guy that turned Huddersfield Town into something they were never meant to be and he’s still the kind of guy that can build something real and sustainable at Schalke. He isn’t going to let this team crumble.

What we’re seeing now is all part of the growing pains of settling into a new manager. He is the right manager for the job, same as he’s always been.

Speaking of which, No. 4.
