1. The Future Is Now
For a lot of prospective fans, the big question is, “what can the club do for me now?” History is great, it’s fun to talk about the first-ever Cup double, and all the trophies decorating Die Knappen’s trophy cabinet, but without the potential to win trophies soon, fans may look elsewhere.
Don’t. For Schalke, the future isn’t some far off light on the horizon, the future is now. If you look at the make-up of the team, you’ll see a ton of young, dynamic players that provide a foundation of exceptional young talent for this club to get back to the top where they belong.
On defense, it’s Ozan Kabak. Kabak is widely regarded as one of the best defensive talents in the world, and he’s at Schalke.
In the midfield, Amine Harit, Suat Serdar, and Weston McKennie are all under 23 years of age. To put that in perspective, most clubs have a U23 youth outfit because players aren’t supposed to be that good at such a young age. Yet all three of these players are sought after by the best in the world. Though Harit and McKennie (and hopefully Serdar soon enough) are tied into long-term deals they signed this year.
Up top, Ahmed Kutucu, much like Ozan Kabak, is a highly regarded young talent who just hasn’t had a chance to shine yet.
The future isn’t coming for the Schalke, the future is now. So get on board!
