Schalke: 5 things to look forward to with Bundesliga return
By Josh Sippie
3. Amine Harit breaking the drought
Speaking of droughts, one of the main reasons why Schalke as a whole has been struggling is tied to Amine Harit struggling in his own regard. As our centerpiece, the kind of attacking player that powers the threat to goal, not having Harit at his best is always going to be a contributing factor to an inability to score goals consistently.
More from Release The Knappen
- Schalke 04: Arkadiusz Milik would take everything, but he’s worth it
- Schalke 04: Ozan Kabak makes Jean-Claire Todibo pass quietly
- Schalke 04: Omar Mascarell the only boost between now and then
- Schalke 04: David Wagner just has to make it to the end of the season
- Schalke 04: At least we still have Weston McKennie
Harit has the most goal contributions on the team with six goals and four assists, he has been a huge breakout performer of the season and not having him at his best before the lay-off was a huge hit.
Harit had not contributed to a Bundesliga goal in 2020. His drought traces all the way back to December 15th when he chipped in the winning assist against Eintracht Frankfurt.
He did score a goal in the thrilling DFB-Pokal match against Hertha Berlin, but Schalke need him back in the Bundesliga, and the same way that the club gets to reset their collective mentality, hopefully Harit was able to also.
