The Bundesliga is set to return May 16th, and that means we get to see Schalke again! Here are 5 things we’re looking forward to seeing.

The Bundesliga is back! Or it’s going to be, anyway. After targeting the weekend of May 8th for a return, the Bundesliga has no given the green light to return to action on May 16th. Which means that we can start banging the Schalke 04 drum, talking about what we can look forward to and what we can expect to see.

Schalke currently sit in 6th place, but they’ve reached much, much higher and will be looking to turn their tailspin around and get back into competition for a European slot, rather than clinging to sixth place.

They’ll start things out against Freiburg, who will be looking to leap ahead of Schalke with a win, so the stress begins now!

Schalke 04 is back in action May 15th! Here’s what to look forward to.

But in the meantime, let’s talk about all the things we can look forward to. We start with No. 5.

5. Health

The long layoff may have been brutal to get through, but one of the benefits of the pause was that some Schalke players could get closer to health and thus give us a better chance of turning things around, which we really, really need to see happen. Part of reestablishing the Royal Blue presence is getting back to our usual supply of players.

Not everyone is going to be back. For instance, this defense is still battered. Ozan Kabak is not going to be back, Salif Sane and Benjamin Stambouli are not going to be back.

But Omar Mascarell? He’s back. We’ve been sorely missing his presence as our almost assured player of the season. His presence in the midfield is irreplaceable, and as we saw from our last match against Hoffenheim, while it was a promising match, it’s something we really need, mostly from a defensive perspective, but from a presence perspective too.

Omar Mascarell is back, any other niggling injuries will be gone. These guys are going to be feeling healthy and fresh.

Moving on to No. 4.
