1. A Schalke man
Forget everything that Ralf Fahrmann has done recently. Forget his rededication to Schalke, forget that he’s coming back to claim a position that we thus don’t have to spend any money on. Fahrmann was raised at the club, he was a servant to the club with over 200 appearances, he was the captain, the longest-tenured man, he stuck with the club through thick and thin.
He is, inherently, a hero to Schalke. No matter what else happens, he will be remembered as one of the best and most successful keepers in Schalke history, with over a decade of wearing the Royal Blue, both at a youth and senior level.
Going back to how this helps us forget Nubel, Fahrmann did what Nubel chose not to do. He dedicated himself to the club, he came back after a brief exit and is now set to do the same a second time, and all in all, I can’t think of a better guy to have back at the club at such a crucial time in the growth and development of David Wagner’s Schalke.
Between him and Mascarell, this club has the leaders it needs on and off the pitch. You can never have too much leadership.
