Schalke: 4 dream forward targets for the Royal Blues
Sebastian Andersson
Schalke were linked to Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson during the winter transfer window, and it will be interesting to see if those links resurface in the summer. Andersson has played a key role in Union staying well above the drop zone, as he and defender Christopher Trimmel have been the undoubted stars of the team.
Andersson’s emergence as one of the Bundesliga’s most clinical strikers has been huge for Union, who were known for their defensive prowess but had question marks in the attack. The Sweden international answered many of those questions, scoring 11 goals to lead the way for the Bundesliga newcomers.
Perhaps more impressively, Anderson was lethally efficient when in front of goal. He was the only player with 10 goals last season to hit the target on 60 percent of his shots, according to FBRef.com. He also averaged 0.21 goals per shot, which was comparable to Robert Lewandowski‘s rate for Bayern Munich.
While Andersson has his limitations and is not a creator by any means, his knack for scoring goals could make him a value signing for Schalke if he’s available. The Royal Blues need a better option up top than Guido Burgstaller if they prefer to play Benito Raman on the wing or with a bigger striker partner, and Andersson’s scoring record could make him a valid option.
