Schalke: 5 guys primed to break out in 2020/21
By Josh Sippie
1. Ahmed Kutucu
I can’t believe I’m having to write about him as a “breakout star.” Maybe by the time the season is over, he won’t really qualify anymore, cause he’ll have broken out enough as is. But as it stands, without a single Bundesliga start, he is still a guy primed to breakout and an easy person to point to and bet on to be the breakout star.
He plays the position we need the most right now, and he hasn’t bee give a chance to make it his own. My only consolation here was that maybe Wagner was trying to weed out his other options, but we’re past that point now. For whatever reason, he just hasn’t been enough for Wagner, and that means that come next year, he will be in a prime position to take on a bigger role with the club.
Kutucu is Schalke’s most efficient goal producer this year, despite accumulating less than 400 minutes, and he remains one of the best young talents on the team. I’m serious when I say that he may break out before next season can even begin.
On the bright side, we know what he can do and he’s only going to get better. He knows how to score goals and that’s what we need right now more than anything.
