Schalke fans have made quite the impression on talented loan signing
FC Schalke 04 fans hope that Jean-Clair Todibo will want to stay in Gelsenkirchen on a permanent basis, and the loan signing from FC Barcelona seems to be impressed with his new fanbase.
The Bundesliga has become the most exciting league in European football, as the emergence of RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund as powerful attacking sides has helped draw more eyes to a product that is no longer completely dominated by Bayern Munich.
It’s also a well-rounded league, as FC Schalke 04, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Bayer Leverkusen are among the European football-quality clubs worth watching every single week.
Loan signings, therefore, become impressed with the quality of the league and the passion that its fans show for their players. After all, the Bundesliga has the highest attendance of any football league in the world.
FC Barcelona loan signing Jean-Clair Todibo has made quite the impression on Schalke fans in 2020, having joined the team at the winter transfer window. Todibo became a regular starter after an injury to Ozan Kabak, and, like Kabak, the young center back has shown that he has the quality to be a future star in this league.
There’s no guarantee that talented defensive loan signings Todibo and Jonjoe Kenny, whose parent club is Everton, will remain in Gelsenkirchen beyond 2019-2020, but both players seem to be loving their football at Schalke.
In a recent interview with Bundesliga.com, Todibo offered high praise for Schalke, with particularly kind words for the passionate fanbase at the Veltins Arena:
"“We’re very close to our fans. Everyone works hard in training. When you leave to go to training in the morning, you see everyone going to work. It’s not the richest of cities, of course. Everyone simply gets on with it. And lots of love. They support and sing for us every single weekend, whether we win or lose – it’s incredible.”"
Schalke fans are known for being among the most supportive in all of world football. Win or lose, the fans support the players with all their hearts. Their recent show of support to the team after their 5-0 home defeat to RB Leipzig certainly stands out as an example.
Todibo, who described the Bundesliga as “very intense”, also said that he feels “great” at Schalke. He mentioned that star man Amine Harit is someone on the team he’s become close with, noting that he can relate to Harit being from Paris and around the same age.
It’s clear that Schalke fans have fallen in love with Todibo’s incredible defending, skill, and work rate. He ticks off all the boxes as an exciting, future superstar, and fans can only hope he continues to enjoy his time with the club and angles for Barcelona to let him go permanently. But, of course, the allure of playing for La Blaugrana can be at least as strong as wanting to star for the Royal Blues…
