LB Bastian Oczipka

One of the best left backs in the Bundesliga, Bastian Oczipka has been a positive for Schalke throughout the 2019-2020 campaign. But with injuries to key leaders and more struggles in the attack, Oczipka must step up his game in March. If Suat Serdar is out, Oczipka will be the active player with the most tackles per game, per WhoScored.com.

CB Matija Nastasic

Matija Nastasic himself has suffered a number of injuries in 2019-2020, but he’s been consistently healthy lately and a real positive for the Royal Blues. With Ozan Kabak injured for the foreseeable future, Nastasic’s calmness at the back defensively will need to continue to be matched by his composed passing.

CB Jean-Clair Todibo

Nastasic’s new partner at the back, Jean-Clair Todibo, has all but guaranteed a long-term future with the Royal Blues, barring a buy-back from FC Barcelona. Todibo was the best player on the pitch against Mainz 05 and was probably Schalke’s top man against Köln in spite of the fact that his team allowed three goals. In Kabak’s absence, Todibo should establish himself as another future superstar defender.

RB Jonjoe Kenny

Schalke need Jonjoe Kenny to start playing better, because he has been horrible lately. Part of that may be due to a recent injury, but Kenny has offered zero in the attack when Schalke ask him to be a key to their player forward. His play has fallen off since the Hinrunde, but he remains a crucial part of the Schalke XI.
