Midfield

Had some tremendous last-ditch defending early on. That said, I do have to hold him accountable for why this midfield would not close down opposing midfielders in dangerous positions. Even if that isn’t all on him, he’s the captain. Why are guys like Sabitzer finding so much time and space? I always appreciate Mascarell defending as a centerback, but you have to defend as a midfielder too.. CDM. FC Schalke 04. OMAR MASCARELL. 4.6

6.2. So slick in building up counter attacks as long as he had the ball. He’s unflappable in possession. You wouldn’t have noticed he missed a few matches, there was no rust. Just sucked that he wasn’t able to get involved as much with how little Schalke were able to do in the attack. Honestly, another of the good players this match, and he was taken off in the 70th.. LM. WESTON MCKENNIE. 6.1. As I often say, he’s a bumper car. He’s going to batter the comfortability of the opposition and occasionally get a bit too aggressive. I really don’t know why he came off so early, as he was one of our few positive players, constantly involved, always hounding the ball. But it is what it is.. RM. FC Schalke 04
