It’s hard to properly judge a guy who only makes substitute appearances against regular starters. Or rather, it usually is. but not with Ahmed Kutucu.
Kutucu has only played 264 Bundesliga minutes. Yet he’s tied for fourth on the team with three goals scored, and if you break down his stats to a per-minute basis, you will see that he is our most efficient goal producer by a long while.
Kutucu has three goals and an assist in those 264 minutes, good for a goal contribution every 66 minutes.
Think about that. Every 66 minutes, Kutucu produces a goal. Now, would that translate as a starter? Probably not. But we won’t know until we try. Right now, he is averaging a goal every single match, with room to spare.
The next closest on the team is Benito Raman with a goal contribution every 143 minutes.

That’s right, Kutucu is twice as efficient as our next leading guy. And until that changes in a big way, I think it’s safe to say this young man should be in the starting XI.
