Attack

I’m reckoning that David Wager sticks with his flexible two striker spot. It’s not like starting Benito Raman and Michael Gregoritsch is really like a two striker set anyway. Not with how mobile Raman is. I expect to see something similar here, albeit with different personnel.

In the name of rotation, I could see Guido Burgstaller given another chance to make something of this season. He’s still strong and sturdy as an ox, but unfortunately he has the goal scoring finesse of an ox too, which isn’t such a good thing.

Still, he’s a fighter and he’s come close recently. He’s a FC Schalke 04 boy and he deserves another chance to get in there. Of course, if it goes wrong, get that quick hook in there and slip Raman or Gregoritsch on.

Rabbi Matondo will also likely get a start here, though he’ll probably be on a shorter leash as well. There’s no messing around here, Schalke need to get another win.

There could be some variation here. If Ahmed Kutucu is healthy, he has to start. But if he was hurt a couple days ago, I’m betting on him still being hurt for this one. I could also see Gregoritsch getting the start to help build some confidence (plus, not like he should be exhausted…).

Whatever the case, expect substitutions to be at the ready when the time comes. There are a lot of options here.
