FC Schalke 04 picked up all three points at the Veltins Arena against Borussia Monchengladbach, dominating the second-place team in the Bundesliga in the process.

The scoreline reads that FC Schalke 04 defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 in a battle between fifth and second place in the Bundesliga, but the Royal Blues could have easily put a handful past Gladbach, who did not look dangerous at all against Die Knappen’s notoriously stout defense.

David Wagner’s side thoroughly outclassed Gladbach despite not having top star Amine Harit available, as the Morocco international picked up a thigh injury. No matter, as new winter signing Michael Gregoritsch immediately showed his class, picking up a goal and an assist in a dream debut.

Here are the full player ratings for Schalke from their huge win, which reestablishes Die Knappen as legitimate title contenders in the Bundesliga.

GK Markus Schubert

Early on, Markus Schubert was forced to make a great save to deny Alassane Plea, and he had a couple of other nice stops. Schubert may be only 21, but he’s already as steady as they come in between the sticks. His aerial ability, handling, and distribution are excellent. Schubert is calm in possession, doesn’t take too long on the ball, and does a good job of rolling the play forward. He’s honestly a calmer presence than Alexander Nübel despite being two years younger. A well-deserved first clean sheet in the top flight.
