We’re back! That’s what I usually say after having to suffer through an international break with no FC Schalke. I realize there was no international break this time but… damn, I just want to be back. And tomorrow we are.

FC Schalke fought for that win over giant-killers Union Berlin. Next up is Bayer Leverkusen, fresh off slaying Bayern Munich to help Die Knappen stay nestled in at third place. Naturally this is never an easy match, especially with the attacking threats that Leverkusen always boast, even in a season where they’ve struggled to find traction.

With Monchengladbach taking on Bayern Munich this week and Leipzig in a toughy against Hoffenheim, the opportunity is there to make our spot even cozier than it already is. Which, granted, isn’t very much. A single loss or draw can change how things look pretty quickly.

All that said, we should have faith in our guys to get the job done. Particularly these three guys, the three key players to ensuring victory and keeping this positive run going.

We start with No. 3.

3. Suat Serdar

It’s amazing what happens when Suat Serdar clicks. It’s now been two straight matches where Serdar has had trouble getting into matches, his influence has been fairly minimal, he gets reckless with the ball, tries too much, and then it clicks.

And when it clicks, it’s like a whole new element of the Royal Blues comes to life. Just like that. He springs into action, every touch turns to gold, he scores a goal and suddenly the match feels like it was much more in hand than it had been previously.

It makes me wonder what it will look like if Serdar can stay honed in for an entire 90 minutes. It may well be impossible, given what that would require, but hey, we can all dream. In the meantime, I’ll wait for the inspiration to strike and change the face of the match. All at the foot of Suat Serdar.

No. 2 is coming up next.
