FC Schalke 04 attacking midfielder Amine Harit is the Bundesliga’s most clutch player, and he set up the winning goal against Union Berlin on Matchday 13.

As expected, FC Schalke 04’s home fixture against Union Berlin was a cagey affair, as the underdogs gave the Royal Blues absolutely everything they could handle. With great goalkeeping, dangerous chances, and a never-say-die attitude, Union had Schalke tied 1-1 going into the late stages of the game.

But Schalke were creating their chances, too. It seemed like they were missing just that one last bit of quality in the final third in order to take the lead.

In Ahmed Kutucu, Amine Harit, and Suat Serdar, Schalke found that quality.

Kutucu entered the game as a substitute and immediately pounced on veteran center back Neven Subotic’s error. He passed the ball to Harit, who was, once again, at the heart of the situation. Harit wisely and deftly passed the ball to his left to an open Serdar, who made no mistake by finishing wonderfully.

In the 86th minute, this goal gave Schalke a crucial 2-1 lead, and they continued to look excellent in the final stages, creating a few more great chances to see out the win.

Serdar had a quiet game prior to this goal, but the finish made it all worth it. He had nearly scored earlier in the game before the ball was cleared off the line by Rafal Gikiewicz. It didn’t take him long, however, to grab his goal.

Meanwhile, scoring or creating clutch goals is nothing new to Harit. He scored the winner against Mainz and Augsburg, and now he has a winning assist for Serdar to his credit.

Schalke are in great position to qualify for the Champions League, and while Union did their best to spoil the Royal Blues hopes at the Veltins Arena on Friday evening, Die Knappen were able to pick up three more points.
