Schalke should not worry about Serie A clubs’ interest in Amine Harit

FC Schalke 04 attacking midfielder Amine Harit has already been linked to FC Barcelona and Liverpool this season, and now two notable clubs in Serie A are showing interest in the Moroccan midfield maestro.

Through the Bundesliga’s first 12 Matchdays, FC Schalke 04 midfielder Amine Harit is one of the leading goal scorers with six goals. Harit added to his tally over the weekend, scoring the first goal in Die Knappen’s 2-1 win over Werder Bremen at the Westerstadion.

Harit’s performances continue to turn heads across Europe, though it’s fair to wonder why teams put so much stock into his down year in 2018-2019. Before being misused by Domenico Tedesco last season, Harit was the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Year and considered one of world football’s top attacking midfield prospects.

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan have added Harit to their wishlist, and Napoli could also show interest in the Morocco international next summer.

Napoli are in the midst of a disappointing season under Carlo Ancelotti despite upsetting Liverpool in the Champions League, and if they lose midfielder Fabian Ruiz to Barcelona or Real Madrid despite their best efforts, then they could make a strong play for Harit.

And their need for an attacking midfielder would increase if Dries Mertens decides to leave the slipping club. Napoli already showed interest in Real’s global star James Rodriguez this summer before Marco Asensio’s injury forced Madrid to keep the Colombian.

Harit would be a dream signing for Milan, too, but they are a less realistic landing spot. Schalke are in contention to qualify for the Champions League, whereas Milan are in 12th place. The Royal Blues already beat Milan to current starting center back Ozan Kabak’s signature this summer, so it would make no sense for Harit to take a step down in his career.

Even though Napoli can easily rise from seventh to Champions League qualification this season due to the talent in their squad, they aren’t exactly a huge step up from Schalke. The Royal Blues are rising in a Bundesliga that is making more waves globally. If Harit were to leave Schalke, it would only make sense for him to join a club on the level of Liverpool or Barcelona.

Based on his play this season, Harit is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world. He presses, destroys defenders with his dribbling skills, scores bundles of goals, has wonderful technique, and has the vision and passing ability to create chances for the forwards. Napoli is an ambitious club and Milan could open its pocketbooks, but Schalke should not be worried by either team’s interest.
