FC Schalke 04 picked up a clutch 3-2 win on Matchday 10 against Augsburg, and they managed to score yet another decisive third goal in this week’s game against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

After conceding a penalty due to an unlucky handball, FC Schalke 04 took back the lead at around the hour mark via another headed set piece goal from standout young defender Ozan Kabak. But a defensive breakdown led to a wonderful counterattack goal for Fortuna Dusseldorf, locking the score at 2-2.

Last week when Schalke needed a goal to go up 3-2, Amine Harit created a chance all on his own and converted to give his team three points. And this week against rivals Dusseldorf, Harit picked up the ball in midfield and ran straight at the heart of Fortuna’s defense.

While the defense caught up to Harit, the ricocheting ball landed at Suat Serdar’s feet at the top of the penalty box. Serdar fired off a shot, the ball deflected off Dusseldorf center back Kasim Adams, and it nestled into the far corner of the net where keeper Zack Steffen had no chance.

Serdar returned to Schalke’s starting lineup last week after an injury, and while he was showing some rust in this game, including giving away the ball cheaply to start Dusseldorf’s goal-scoring counter, this goal made some amends.

The German international will once again feature for his country during next week’s international break after impressing in October, and he’s been one of the Bundesliga’s best midfielders.

Harit has been even better, and he deserves loads of credit for putting in the work to create this chance. He’s so brilliant on the ball and works so hard to create chances from nothing for his teammates, including this one. While Harit didn’t have the killer pass here, his dribbling and drive forward helped create this opportunity for Serdar.
