CM Daniel Caligiuri

Even when Daniel Caligiuri isn’t playing at his best, he still manages to provide moments of magic, particularly on set pieces. He first created an own goal with a delivery from the left side, and his second-half free kick to Ozan Kabak was sublime.

CAM Amine Harit

The best player on the pitch, Amine Harit is simply a cut above the rest. The Moroccan international has blossomed into one of the Bundesliga’s best players, and he was positive throughout the game, taking defenders on and looking to create for his teammates. He pounced on Reece Oxford’s mistake for the winner and deserved to be the one to score that goal. Harit is unplayable with the ball at his feet, and he could have provided more goals in the forwards were more positive in their link-up play.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10

ST Benito Raman

After bagging a crucial brace in Schalke’s 3-2 DFB Pokal win over Arminia Bielefeld, the Belgian forward, who recently returned from injury, regressed again. Raman’s passing was woeful, he didn’t make incisive runs off the ball, and his work rate was off. This was a very poor performance from Raman, who should clearly be behind Rabbi Matondo in the pecking order.

ST Mark Uth

Although Mark Uth worked hard and was all over the field, looking to drop deep to collect balls and create when Schalke were struggling with their ball progression, there’s something off about his game. Uth is putting in the work and has the quality, but his end product and movement just aren’t coming off. Another below-average performance from the former Hoffenheim star.
