CB Weston McKennie
Shifted to center back after Salif Sane’s injury, and while he can play there, it’s not really the ideal position for him. Still, he made a few vital interventions on defense and was always looking to get forward, which mattered during the middle of the game when Schalke were having an especially difficult time progressing the ball. He led the team in passes completed with 94, completing 90% of his attempts.

RB Jonjoe Kenny
A rather subdued performance from Jonjoe Kenny, who was decent enough defensively but failed to make the necessary impact in attack. Kenny’s passes were a little bit off today, as this was a rare underwhelming performance from the promising England international.

CDM Omar Mascarell
The most consistent player on Schalke this season, Omar Mascarell had another solid performance both defensively and as a passer in midfield. Composed and kept things ticking, while also providing plenty of cover for McKennie whenever he went forward.

CM Suat Serdar
Although Serdar had three tackles, this wasn’t the best game by his standards, as he’s still shaking off some rust after returning from injury. Serdar has been one of the Bundesliga’s top midfielders this season, but the box-to-box standout did not have a big game on Sunday.
