GK Alexander Nubel

It was a quiet afternoon for Alexander Nubel, who surrendered two goals that he could do nothing about. The first was a brilliantly placed effort from Daniel Baier, who broke Halil Altinop’s record as the oldest Augsburg scorer in the Bundesliga. And the second was a penalty by Alfred Finnbogason after a handball from Bastian Oczipka.

Nubel also picked up a yellow card in this one.

LB Bastian Oczipka

Although he allowed the penalty for Augsburg’s go-ahead goal in the second half, he could really do nothing about the play. Oczipka, per WhoScored.com, recorded three tackles and provided 85% passing accuracy on the afternoon. A decent display from the experienced left back, who also nearly forced Augsburg’s keeper into a mistake with a fierce right-footed shot.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

CB Ozan Kabak

Making his first Bundesliga start with the Royal Blues, Ozan Kabak was by far the best defensive player on the pitch for Schalke. Not only did he score the 2-2 goal off a great Daniel Caligiuri set piece, but he also provided excellent cover defensively and grew into the game. He is as good as advertised.
