FC Schalke 04 will face Augsburg on Sunday, and here are five players who could tip the balance in what should be more points on the board for the Royal Blues.

There’s barely any point in recapping where FC Schalke 04 currently stand in the current Bundesliga table, because everyone is basically tied with each other at this point. The Bundesliga used to be a league where parity seemed like a dream, but it is now far and away the most competitive league among Europe’s top five.

With a victory on Sunday over Augsburg, Schalke could move into second place with 18 points and solidify their candidacy as a Champions League side in 2020-2021. While they probably should have scored a goal to beat rivals Borussia Dortmund in last week’s Revierderby, David Wagner’s side is undoubtedly happy with the fact that they outplayed one of the Bundesliga’s other title contenders for 90 minutes.

But on Sunday, simply playing better won’t be enough. Schalke will need to procure all three points against an Augsburg team that has a trio of very talented attacking players, but is deservedly in a relegation position heading into Matchday 10.
