FC Schalke predicted XI: Borussia Dortmund and the Revierderby await

Let’s get this out of the way—Guido Burgstaller will start. because Guido Burgstaller always starts. The question was asked against Hoffenheim whether Burgstaller and Mark Uth would ever provide enough firepower for FC Schalke, and I don’t think you’ll find many people arguing that they will.
That said, Burgstaller has other faculties that you can’t discount. His hold-up play is excellent, and with the right compliment of players around him, he can still be an effective member of this team. Though not scoring a single Bundesliga goal in eight starts is… disconcerting.
Regardless, have faith. This is a man who will fight for the club down to his last toenail, and those goals will come eventually. So why not now?
Next to him, I would expect to see Amine Harit in a more advanced role, though he will most likely drop into a more No. 10 position as the match sees fit. It’s a shame that Rabbi Matondo’s starting spot will likely be taken from him, but that just means that he can be the Bebou to Dortmund’s defense.
And remember, as long as Harit is out there, we have the capability to do some excellent things up top. Count on it. Blau und weiß, wie lieb ich Dich.
